Equipped with a 24.5MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor and an EXPEED 7 processor, the Z5 II delivers a balance of improved sensitivity, refined image quality, AI-driven autofocus, and continuous shooting at up to 30 fps. The native ISO range of 100-64000 supports diverse lighting conditions and can be expanded to ISO 50-204800 for extreme scenarios. This combination of resolution and sensor size ensures smooth color transitions, reduced noise, and crisp details across the sensitivity spectrum.

Leveraging deep learning technology from the Z9, the Z5 II features intelligent Subject Detection that recognizes nine different subject types, including humans, animals, bicycles, and airplanes. The dedicated Bird Detection mode remains a standout feature. When using Auto-Area AF, these subjects are automatically detected, tracked, and kept in sharp focus, even when in motion.

Beyond still photography, the Z5 II enhances its video capabilities with UHD 4K recording at up to 60 fps and Full HD at up to 120 fps. Video recording time extends up to two hours, and features like a video self-timer, built-in electronic Vibration Reduction, and HDMI output for external recording improve versatility. In-camera time-lapse functionality allows users to generate a finished UHD 4K video file directly from the camera.

For stability, the Z5 II integrates a 5-axis sensor-shift Vibration Reduction (VR) system, offering up to five stops of stabilization, or up to 7.5 stops when paired with compatible lenses. Electronic VR further aids handheld video recording by reducing shake.

A dedicated Picture Control button provides instant access to 31 built-in color presets, even in Auto mode. Users can preview these presets on the rear LCD, adjusting colors in real time. Additionally, Nikon's Imaging Cloud offers downloadable Creator Recipes from fellow photographers to expand creative possibilities.

The 3.2" 2.1m-dot LCD screen now boasts double the brightness for clearer image previews and intuitive touchscreen operation. Meanwhile, the ultra-bright 3.69m-dot electronic viewfinder ensures comfortable eye-level framing.

Dual SD card slots support UHS-II for high-speed data handling, while connectivity options include a USB-C port for charging and power delivery, a micro-HDMI output for external recording, and a headphone jack that doubles as a remote release terminal. Built-in SnapBridge connectivity with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi enables seamless image transfer and remote camera control via a mobile device.

Powering the Z5 II is an EN-EL15c rechargeable lithium-ion battery, delivering approximately 380 shots per charge. USB charging is supported even while the camera is in use, ensuring extended shooting sessions without interruption.
