It accommodates an additional EN-EL15 lithium-ion battery pack, extending the camera's runtime. Alternatively, the pack can be used with eight AA batteries using the included MS-D12 AA Battery Holder. For increased shooting speed and extended battery life, an EN-EL18a/b/c battery can be used with an optional BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover, achieving up to 9 fps and approximately 5140 shots per charge. The grip's ergonomic design facilitates vertical shooting, featuring a secondary shutter release button, AE/AF lock button, multi-selector, and main- and sub-command dials.
